These are in process photos of a project in Sonoma County, California. The client had a bed that circled the house where the lawn encroached during winter rains, and where plantings dried out during the summer drought. We created an edge around the bed and installed redwood bender board. Then we ran a drip irrigation system to all existing plants, and covered unplanted areas in shredded cedar bark for aesthetic appeal, moisture retention, and weed prevention. Also, along the way we encountered an area where the home’s downspout was over saturating an area of the garden. Prior to this we had unearthed a lot of rocks to run PVC from the water source to the drip system and were able to repurpose these rocks to create a drainage system that was both functional and eye pleasing. Also we installed a custom picnic table built by the client. Here are some photographs of the process.
